In Losing Weight, Health Tips

Whether you are retired or still working a full-time job, you most likely have a lot on your plate. Between keeping tabs on the kids and maintaining a social life on top of dealing with home ownership issues, hobbies and jobs, it can be challenging to juggle it all. Here are some topnotch tips for establishing a routine designed to get everything accomplished and leave you extra time for yourself.

1.     Write it down. First things first…annotate everything you want to accomplish on a given day. It will start out as a brain dump where you simply write down every task that you want to get done on that specific day. You will then divide up your list into tasks that you already do and tasks that you want to add into your routine. It’s a good idea to carry a notebook around with you so you can jot down any ideas that may arise during the day.

2.     Evaluate your energy levels. We all have certain times of day where we are more energetic and able to focus versus other times of the day. You may find that you get your best work done in the wee hours of the morning or maybe you are a night owl who likes to tackle projects after dark. Either way, determine what times of day you get your best flow and then organize your tasks accordingly. For example, if you have a task that requires thinking, and your best thoughts come to the surface before dawn, then block out time in the morning to get this task done. If you find that your wheels spin better at night, then save your thinking until the evening hours. The same goes with exercise. If you are committed to exercising, yet you dislike being physically active at night, then knock out your workout first thing in the morning and get it out of the way.

3.     Sort out your routine. Once you have established your best times of the day for certain activities, you’ll need to get busy organizing. Start by filling in one of those hour-by-hour calendars with all the things that have designated time spots. If you need to drop off the kids at 8:30 am, then be sure to annotate that. Then, fill in the blank hours with tasks that make sense in certain time slots. Maybe you will tackle an hour at the gym after you drop the kids off, and save your budgeting for the evening hours. Either way you go, you will have a newly organized plan of attack for checking things off your to-do list.
