Ways To Reboot Your Energy

In energy, Health Tips

For some of us there are certain times of year that leave us feeling drained. Maybe it’s the lack of vitamin D from a long, sunless winter. Whatever the reason, if you are feeling less than energetic, here are a few tips for getting some pep in your step.

Rest. When your body is showing you signs that it has no motivation to move, there may be a good reason for that and the reason is simple…rest. If you can, hold off on tackling your to-do list and get some z’s. Sleep in and go to bed early, until your body no longer feels like it’s moving through quicksand.

Up your vitamin C. We often think of adding vitamin C to our diet when we are battling a cold, but this ascorbic acid needs to be added to our daily diet for a very good reason. First of all, unlike other vitamins, C is not stored in the body and is used up fast, especially when we are stressed or undergoing changes. Because it’s not made by the body, it’s crucial to take a supplement and consume foods high in vitamin C, such as strawberries, broccoli, and kale.

Spend your time wisely. Time is precious, which is why it is very important to spend it wisely and only pack your calendar with things that you truly want to do. If you have to, guard your time like the prize that it is and be sure to allot a daily dose of “me-time,” where you cater to your own needs. Our health and energy dwindle the moment we commit to things that we truly don’t want to do. Be wary of your time and remember to always put yourself first.

Add minerals to your diet. If you aren’t as full of life as you were a few weeks ago, it could be that you are lacking some necessary minerals like calcium, iron, and magnesium. Sometimes our diets don’t allow us to intake enough of these minerals, which leads us to feeling sloth-like and less than energetic. Because our body uses these minerals up fast, you may need to add them into your diet by way of a supplement.

Stay hydrated. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, the best thing you can do for both your body and mind, is to maintain a constant level of hydration. When we are dehydrated, our brain function, mood, and energy levels are directly affected, which could lead to a feeling of lethargy.
